This article, written in French by Elena Debbaut, will consider the Enterprise Resource Planning system for small business organisations with a few dozen employees and SMBs with an average of 400 employees.
This article does not cover the technical aspects of the ERP implementation, but a more general and simplified business approach. This article is for the use of an SMB general manager or owner.
Cloud-based ERP systems are more and more popular among companies, mainly because of the ease of implementation. Cost is also a factor to consider by SMBs business when choosing an ERP system. In the long term, the cost element is lower for an on-site ERP solution, but this approach is requiring a relatively significant initial investment for an SMB.
Afterwards, companies that would like to have an ERP neglect and underestimate the costs related to the management and subsequent maintenance at hardware and software levels.
In practice, I have witnessed that companies move to a “Cloud” ERP solution when the need for new functionalities can no longer be sufficient for various remote and on-site teams. A “homemade” ERP system can cover multiple systems, software and processes.
Companies that are at the stage of VSEs of a few dozen people and SMEs with some 400 employees have all the advantages of moving to a cloud-based ERP solution.
